{"id":183,"date":"2018-02-26T18:23:06","date_gmt":"2018-02-26T18:23:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pioneerschoolofrealestate.com\/?p=183"},"modified":"2022-02-14T21:36:32","modified_gmt":"2022-02-14T21:36:32","slug":"6-steps-to-getting-a-real-estate-license-in-texas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pioneerschoolofrealestate.com\/?p=183","title":{"rendered":"6 Steps To Getting A Real Estate License In Texas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Getting a real estate license and embarking on a career in real estate can be a very exciting adventure.\u00a0 The process is really quite simple and can be accomplished in a relatively short amount of time.\u00a0 Here are 6 steps that will walk you through the process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1.\u00a0 Determine if you meet the qualifications.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In order to have a Texas real estate license you must meet the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be a citizen of the United States or a lawfully admitted alien.<\/li>\n<li>Are 18 years of age or older.<\/li>\n<li>Meet TREC\u2019s qualifications for honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Step 2.\u00a0 Obtain the required education.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once you have determined that you meet the qualifications above, you will need to successfully complete 180 hours of education approved by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC).\u00a0 The courses required by TREC are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Real Estate Principles I and II (60 classroom hours)<\/li>\n<li>Law of Agency (30 classroom hours)<\/li>\n<li>Law of Contracts (30 classroom hours)<\/li>\n<li>Promulgated Contract Forms (30 classroom hours)<\/li>\n<li>Real Estate Finance (30 classroom hours)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All coursework can be completed through Pioneer School of Real Estate.\u00a0 Our online catalog can be found at <a href=\"https:\/\/pioneerschool.pdx.catalog.canvaslms.com\/\">https:\/\/pioneerschool.pdx.catalog.canvaslms.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3.\u00a0 File your application with TREC.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications to take the real estate exam, along with the application fee, can be submitted either online or by mail.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0Applications can be found on the TREC website at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.trec.texas.gov\/\">https:\/\/www.trec.texas.gov\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4.\u00a0 Get fingerprints and a background check.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You will be required to have fingerprints on file as well as undergoing a background check.\u00a0 Fingerprints from other agencies are not acceptable by TREC.\u00a0 Also, if you feel that a background check may cause you to be ineligible to obtain a real estate license, you may want to submit a <em>Fitness Determination<\/em> form to TREC before registering to take your 180 hour qualifying courses.\u00a0 You can find this form on the TREC website.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trec.texas.gov\/forms\/fitness-determination\">https:\/\/www.trec.texas.gov\/forms\/fitness-determination<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 5.\u00a0 Take the exam.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You\u2019re almost done!\u00a0 Once you have completed steps 1 through 4, and TREC has given you the go ahead, you are ready to take the exam.\u00a0 The real estate exams are conducted by a testing service company, PearsonVUE.\u00a0 TREC will give you instructions on how to register to take the exam after your application has been approved.\u00a0 If you don\u2019t pass the exam after 3 attempts, additional education will be required.\u00a0 We are confident here at Pioneer School of Real Estate that if you have studied your course content and taken the review through our exam prep course, you will have a high probability of passing the exam on the first attempt.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 6.\u00a0 Find a sponsoring broker.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you have found yourself at step 6 then congratulations are in order because you have passed your exam!\u00a0 Your final step is to find a sponsoring broker to hold your real estate license.\u00a0 Be sure and stay tuned for our next blog \u201cHow To Choose Your Sponsoring Broker\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Getting a real estate license and embarking on a career in real estate can be a very exciting adventure.\u00a0 The &hellip;
